Enrique Cury is a consultant of Grasty Quintana Majlis & Cia. since 2006.
His practice focuses on criminal law, a field in which he is recognized as one of the most outstanding jurists in Latin America. Mr. Cury makes a decisive contribution to client matters in the areas of criminal law and dispute resolution, providing excellent legal opinions to address substantive and procedural law issues.
He also makes a significant contribution to pro bono work at Grasty Quintana Majlis & Cia., which extends to the national level through his participation in the Consultative Council of the Pro Bono Foundation. Related to the aforementioned, at the IV Annual Dinner of the Foundation held in 2009, Mr. Cury was awarded a “Special Mention”, with the objective being to emphasize his contribution to the work of the Pro Bono Foundation in Chile.
He served as Justice of the Excellency Supreme Court of Chile from 1998 until May 2006. In his performance as Justice of the highest court of the Republic of Chile, he was recognized as one of the most reputable Justices. This invaluable experience allowed Cury to hear and study the most varied matters in the ambits of criminal, commercial, civil liability, bankruptcy and constitution protection law amongst other.
Previously, he served as General Secretary of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile from 1990 to 1998. In parallel he actively practiced in the legal profession as principal partner of the law firm “Cury y Asociados”.
Mr. Cury is a professor of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile since 1968, and former professor of the University of Chile (1971-1982) and University of Diego Portales (l987-l992). He is also honorary professor of the University de Colombia and author of numerous books and articles of Criminal Law, all of international prestige. In April 2010, he was awarded the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Valparaíso.
Furthermore, he is a member of the Council of the Chilean Bar Association, the Consultative Council of the Pro Bono Foundation and Vice-Chairman of the Chilean Institute of Penal Sciences.
